The ACT Exam at a Glance

The ACT is a multiple-choice test and consists of five subject areas: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science and Writing. (Writing section is an optional part). The majority of the four-year colleges and universities in the U.S. accept the ACT but institutions place different emphasis on standardized tests in comparison to other methods of evaluation, such as, class rank, GPA, and extracurricular activities.

The main four subjects of the ACT are scored individually on a scale of 1–36, and a composite score is provided.
