The Capstone Final Examination prepared and monitored by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) is specifically tailored to Hong Kong's business environment. What is the New QP (New Qualification Programme)?
The New QP prepared and monitored by the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) is specifically tailored to Hong Kong's business environment. It is synonymous with quality and a choice for students who seek to stand out among their peers. A professional qualification opens many otherwise closed doors.
The New QP breaks the traditional learning mode, exposing students to real business cases. It encourages students to think independently. In workshops, problems are presented which require effective and professional solutions. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the ability to make professional decisions, contribute through teamwork and interact in a working group.
The New QP utilizes the practical business application of accounting, taxation, auditing and IT. Using proven training methods, it prepares you for a career as a competent and forward thinking accountant with a successful business career.
The New QP will comprise three progressive levels with 14 modules and a Capstone, i.e. Associate Level (10 modules), Professional Level (four modules) and Capstone. It offers alternative pathways and greater flexibility for students with different educational backgrounds, including sub-degree holders and non-accounting majors, to become CPAs. This could attract more students from other disciplines to join the accountancy profession which is important in developing a sustainable talent pool of accounting professionals.

The New QP comprises the QP and the Capstone.
QP comprises of 4 modules:
The New QP provides world-class and comprehensive training to ensure that upon completion, the newly qualified CPAs will be equipped with the necessary technical knowledge, professional skills, values and ethics, and relevant practical experience to meet the needs of employers in today's work environment.

Workshop
There will be five full-day workshops, one at the introduction to the Professional Level and one for each Professional Module.
Students are required to meet the performance indicators of the workshop. Completion of the Introductory Workshop is a pre-requisite to start the Professional Modules.
Each full-day, eight-hour workshop, with one-hour meal break, is filled with active learning activities including case studies with workplace simulation, plenary discussions and team presentations to achieve the prescribed technical and enabling competence requirements. Workshops are usually conducted during Saturdays and Sundays. Each workshop is led by two workshop facilitators running a class size of around 24 students. All activities during the workshop class will be conducted in English.
The Capstone
The Capstone tests your ability to integrate knowledge and skills from any part of the QP module syllabuses and apply these across all fields of competency, demonstrating a level of skills appropriate to a professional practitioner.
