“To manage your studies with your busy life, I suggest you to take the initiative to work closely with your classmates. Brainstorming together helps complete the task more easily as two heads are better than one. Afterall, this is all about finding a more efficient way to learn and be precise. The Kaplan team is very supportive. The lecturers are very down to earth. It is enjoyable to hear them share their work experiences in class as I can relate to my job. Throughout the course, I have found my potentials. Further education makes me gain more career opportunities than before. In the long run, it allows me to grow my career outside of Hong Kong and to have job opportunities in other countries as well.”

"Jonathan did a great job in dissecting the problems into smaller parts which I find incredibly helpful. Since answers are already at the back of the book, the value of the revision class really lies at the trainer's step-by-step dissection of the problems. Really appreciate Jonathan's patience and clear explanation, and he is always ready to answer questions after class. It is about why and how the problem should have been tackled so going through the questions one by one is very helpful."

SAT Preparation Course
HKDSE graduate | Studied in HK Elite Girls School
Rachel was a Form 6 HKDSE student who studied in an elite girls school. She always wanted to go to study in the U.S. for its abundance of opportunities in both academic research and community involvement. She knew that the SAT was the first step towards college admissions. Before taking the Kaplan SAT course, Rachel found very difficult to solve math problems and handle SAT reading questions. At that time, she only did self-preparation by reviewing online videos and blogs and she found this information provided are not sufficient enough to score 1400+. As her friend attended Kaplan SAT course and scored very well in the SAT, she decided to take Kaplan SAT course. Support from Kaplan SAT trainer, Mr. Paul Lim Paul Lim was a knowledgeable and friendly SAT trainer. With rich understanding about SAT content and strategy, Paul was able to help me boost my SAT score. Other than that, Paul also shared his own college admissions experiences and motivated us to pursue our academic goals. I made use of the online database provided by Kaplan as extra practice to consolidate my understanding of course curriculum. I am also very grateful for the exam review sessions after the course. In these sessions, Paul reviewed with us all content and strategies covered in the course. He also walked us through a wide range of practice questions to prepare us mentally and emotionally for the big day. Improve weaknesses via extensive course content The content of the SAT course helped me improve upon my weaknesses. For the Reading component of the SAT, Paul taught me how to zone in on certain parts of speech or key words when skimming through reading passages, allowing me to read efficiently and find answers accurately. For Math, Paul reviewed with us basic mathematical terminology so that we could pinpoint the gist of each question and solve each one accurately. This helped me reduce my careless mistakes and score higher in the math component of the test. Besides the course content and trainer performance, I was also very much impressed with the course materials. The “Kaplan Way” of skimming SAT passages as featured in the course book taught me how to read effectively and find answers accurately. Kaplan’s practice tests were also useful in helping me build up the skills to take the SAT. More difficult than official College Board practice tests, these tests gave me the chance to exercise my skills across a range of high level questions. They also prompted me to improve my time management for the test. Furthermore, the test analyzes after each test helped me pinpoint my weaknesses and drill to perfection. Rachel’s words to fellow test takers Without a doubt, the SAT plays a significant role in our college applications. It is crucial that we put our utmost efforts in identifying our weaknesses and drilling to perfection. Getting help from a tutor who has been exposed to a wide range of students and test-taking strategies can help you boost your score effectively. Before the course, I could only refer to official College Board essays to prepare for the SAT essay component. In the course, Paul was able to give me individual feedback regarding my essays, allowing me to pinpoint the requirements of this component and write with greater confidence and higher quality. Fruitful studying experience at Kaplan “I am genuinely impressed with the Kaplan course! Before I first took the SAT, I relied on self-preparation. I struggled to score beyond the 1300 range due to lack of test-taking strategies and poor time allocation. Thanks to my trainer, Paul Lim, who had sound knowledge about SAT content and exam skills, I was able to show significant improvement in these areas. The Kaplan course taught me how to skim through reading passages effectively and answer SAT Reading questions logically. Also, I was able to use faster, simpler ways to tackle Math questions, enhancing time management and accuracy. Furthermore, Paul gave us detailed and constructive feedback regarding our SAT essays, which allowed us to enhance the quality of our work. After reviewing Kaplan’s practice tests, drilling on the online database, and attending exam review sessions, I was able to increase my SAT score by around 100 points! I would definitely recommend this course to SAT test-takers.”
